When we first started our CD ripping service our focus was Apple iPod owners and so we used Apple's iTunes. We were offering to carry out on our systems what our clients didn't have the time or ability to do on their computers.
More recently we have broadened the scope of CD ripping services - covering options for FLAC and MP3. Hence we've had to add alternative CD ripping software to tackle FLAC, we went for dbPowerAmp.

CD ripping - what's the best software?
We've tried most programs on the market. Every so often another one pops up and is said to be the holy grail of CD ripping - very fast, very accurate, user friendly plus some other special ingredient.
In terms of ripping speed we haven't noticed any material differences. If you judge by the evidence of your ears then if you opt for iTunes or dbPowerAmp you won't be disappointed.

Album Art
We use several programs to search for and download album art for clients. None is brilliant, none works on both Mac and Windows.
We have a special need for album art to be embedded in each track. Clients who mainly use iTunes can access much art via iTunes Music Store at no cost. This will download a copy of the image held by Apple, this appears in your Music Library, on your iPod, iPhone or iPad. However the image file is not actually embedded inside the track. If we used the same method when our clients loaded their music files on their PCs the music would be fine but the art will have been lost.
