We use iTunes normally to organise the folder / file structure when we send your digital music library back. We standardised on iTunes when it became the defacto standard for handling digital music, it is free and easy to download, it’s reliable / supported by a massive company, runs on Apple and Windows computers. If you follow the instructions we send you for loading your ripped music into your computer you need never look into this in any more detail – it just works.
Apple organises most of the files inside the music folder by artist then by album and within that, in track order. However Apple also uses a category called Compilations. This is a folder containing the music from all those artists who appear on CDs such as “Now 40”, “Now 41” and so on, plus all those other compilation albums.
If you would like your music organised in a different way we can most probably do that but you will need to explicitly request that, and set out how you want the tracks organised. We will do all we can to oblige, but it may not be possible to do so in every case.
