Music Archive
As a CD ripping service we want you to be happy with your MP3 files when you get them, and for the future. These guidelines will enable you to keep your music files safe for the future.
We will keep copies of the music we rip for you here on our hard drives for a period of time. However we don’t offer long term data archival for ripped music. If you have any problems with the DVDs or hard drive we supply you must let us know immediately on receipt, we’ll make sure your source music files are kept until any issues are resolved.
The DVDs we use for data exchange should be kept safe and secure, maybe even off site, as this is your long term data archive. DVDs have a proven life of many decades, they’re resistant to most forms of decay but they should be kept safe from physical damage, particularly scratches which are very hard to recover from. Contrary to many urban myths natural substances from finger prints don’t materially cause DVDs to decay.
Where your music is returned on a hard drive we recommend that you take a copy of all that data. For example copy those files onto your hard drive and keep the interchange drive safe as a back up in case of emergency. We don’t recommend you rely on a single copy of your music files stored on a single hard drive.
