Everybody likes to know where they stand, we all dislike sudden shocks such as a charge that rolls in far higher than we expected. We have to hold our hands up and admit to delivering one or two nasties when we’ve told clients how much it was going to be to get their discs and USB drive back to them.
Today we’re putting that right, or at least going as far as we can. We are putting a £15 ceiling on return mail charges for most of our clients. In practice if the cost charged to us by Parcelforce, Royal Mail or a courier service is less than our ceiling limit you’ll pay that (indeed for 60% of clients in 2014 that would be the case). If the cost to us goes over £15 we’ll eat the excess. Our FAQs have been updated on return mailing costs.
We have to make two exceptions.
First clients outside the UK. As signed for / insured mailing to mainland Europe and overseas can be high we just can’t make this offer. Second, where clients send CDs still inside jewell cases we will have to charge mail “at cost”. We advise all clients to remove CDs from their cases as it reduces weight, reduces the risk of damage in transit and of course the costs of mailing. However where clients prefer to leave discs in jewell boxes we can’t be so generous in absorbing extra costs.
